Measuring Guide

Wall Measurements

Measuring your own rooms might sound easy, or it might sound impossible, but we want to reassure you that it is not that hard.  Some might say even a caveman can do it.  Follow the general rules below, and you will be fine.  You will most likely get it really close, and know that missing a measurement by a foot or two usually doesn't change the estimate all that much.  If you are still just overwhelmed, or really just want us to measure things, just give us a call or use our contact us form.  We would love to come help.

Measure the maximum room length and the maximum room width. Always round up to the next foot.

We have included some example room layouts that should help you with most rooms.

This may be a stretch, but think back to high school geometry and then make things simple; think of the rooms in terms of squares and rectangles.

Remember, our field rep will come out to measure the room, so he can always check your work.

Ceiling Measurements

Take the average height of the ceiling between its highest and lowest points. Always round up to the next foot.

As a general rule, most lower ceilings are 8 feet high. Many newer homes have 9 ft. main floors and most two story rooms are 18 ft.

Stairway Measurements

Stairways having two side walls are considered a separate room and must be entered individually. Stairways with one side wall should be included in the measurements of the rest of the room.
